Have you ever wanted to visit one of our Bellingham Farmers Market farms? Here's a great opportunity -- this Saturday, from 9 a.m to 5 p.m., you can visit BelleWood Acres, Grace Harbor Farms, or McPhail Berry Farm, all in Lynden.
These farms, and several more, are part of the Whatcom "Tour de Farms," one of the many fun activities you can enjoy during Sustainable Connections 4th annual "Eat Local Week," September 7-14. For all the details on the "Tour de Farms," including a map, and other "Eat Local Week" events, go to www.SustainableConnections.org.
Here's what you'll experience on your self-guided tour:
BelleWood Acres -- Tour the orchard, gardens, packing line, juice line, and bakery. Sample our products in the farm store, including "just picked" apples and pears, specialty cheeses and baked goods, honey roasted peanut butter, and fresh apples smothered in warm caramel! (www.bellewoodapples.com)
Grace Harbor Farms -- Tour the milking facility and the creamery, and visit with the goats, as well as chickens, turkeys, horses, and a miniature horse. Visit the farm store to sample and buy goat cheese, milk, yogurt, and frozen yogurt, and our skin care products. (www.graceharborfarms.com)
McPhail Berry Farm -- Come pick or purchase ready-picked scrumptious berries, enjoy fresh berry pies, feed the animals, and go for a hayride around the farm! (www.mcphailberries.com)
Come by bike, bus, or carpool! More information: www.SustainableConnections.org.
